Question: Is it normal for a finger with sutures to be tender?

Like 60 hours ago I got a few stitches in my finger. The knife went through my nail and the backside (skin), so it was a pretty good chunk that needed stitched back into place. It still hurts a bit, is mildly swollen compared to the others, is somewhat warm (perhaps because it s wrapped and caressed like a baby), and the whole thing is very tender.

My heart tells me this is normal so soon after the occurrence and that healing takes time, but my anxiety is freaking out about infection. There s no dramatic redness or fever. Should I wait a few more days or follow up sooner?
