I have an avulsion fracture of the Lateral malleolus on my left ankle. This happened 3 and a half months ago. In all my xrays you can see a nonunion of the bone, and the physician assistant said that there is fibrous tissue growing in, not bone. They started me on physical therapy for a month, and said I might need a bone stimulator as well.
My question is…does this sound normal? This is the third time I have broken this ankle. 11 years ago fractured fibula, and 5 years ago fractured talus. It did not take this long to heal in the previous injuries, and I certainly did not feel this much pain after 3 and a half months. Does this sound normal or do you think should get a second opinion?
The break is at the very end of my fibula, and the dr. Says that the circulation inside the bone is not as good at the end of the bone. All I want to do is heal and be active again. I’m tired of this! What can I do?

I’m a dancer, and I’ve never had sore joint problems, but I’ve been dancing and working a lot recently (my job requires a lot of heavy lifting and movement), and this morning after my prom, my right ankle and knee have been in kind of a dull pain. I have my dance recital this week and need to be moving on it for the rest of the week.
I’ve sprained my ankle in the past and have a brace (a cloth one and a plastic one), but I don’t know if I should wear it either all the time, only when I dance/work, or not at all. As for my knee, I have no idea what to do. My friend (also a dancer) has had issues with tendinitis in the past and wears a knee brace off and on, but I can’t prove I have tendinitis without going to a doctor.
I’m a little leery to see a doctor just yet because I can’t have them tell me I’m not allowed to dance.
Nothing is swollen as of right now, but my ankle didn’t swell last time I sprained it either.

Basically, I managed to fillet the top of my thumb with an Exacto knife, right across where the knuckle was. I ended up going to the hospital to have it looked at and I didn’t want stitches, so they used a skin cement if I promised to wear a finger brace so I don’t bend it.

I keep taking the splint off though because I don’t want my finger to stiffen up too much. I’ve accidently busted it open twice now, but I notice for the week I’ve been wearing it, my thumb feels clumsy when I take it off.

Basically, how long can I wear the splint safely? It’s already been about a week, but whenever I take it off, I end up bending my thumb and ripping it open again.
